PROJECT

Afrikaburn Tori

The Tori was a sculptural stage piece I was involved in designing, manufacturing and installing at the Afrikaburn 2012 art festival. Working as part of a large group, fellow structural thinker, Luke Goddard and I designed and built the structure with a couple things in mind. We wanted her to be as big as possible, yet not big enough to take off in the Tankwa wind. Based on the geometry of an origami bird, the sculpture was designed to express the clean lines and elegance of the eastern paper art. On a tight budget with unique transportation and location, we also needed her to be inexpensive and material efficient.

This project was amazing to see materialize, where scale and environment played such a beautiful role in achieving more than what we could have imagined on paper. Thanks to everyone involved!

PROJECT

Lathe Exploration

Exploring the techniques and material characteristics involved with spinning and turning, I have been able to create beautifully simple products while developing my understanding of the different forms and intricacies of both wood and metal lathe work.

Whack Doodles

Drawing with just a black pen, my 'time waster' doodles turned into a mini passion of their own. With just white & black, I enjoy letting my imagimnation run a bit wild with whack little characters, scenes and concepts.

PROJECT

LadyBug Tuktuk

A quick Tuktuk conversion for Afrikaburn 2016. We spent a week on this fun little desert creature.
Thanks to Matty Schrire for letting me be a part of making your dream materialize.
